（1）、一般最大～2.0mm、最小～0.5mm之间，
（2）、锰砂承托层级配和厚度可参照快滤池。采用锰砂做滤料时、上面两层承托层需用同样含量及粒径的锰砂代替为宜。
锰砂装填高度：
（1）、重力式过滤器除铁除锰：滤层高度一般采用800～1200mm，规模较小的压力式过滤器除铁、除锰：设备一般采用1000～1200mm；同时除铁除锰的单级过滤滤层一般取较高值，使过滤后的水质达到最佳效果。
锰砂滤池滤速：
（1）、除铁滤池一般为5～10m/h,含铁量高时可采用较低滤速。除铁除锰滤池和除锰滤速为5～8m/h。
（2）、反冲洗；其中水头损失一般控制在1.5～2.5m。除铁采用粒径为0.6～1.2mm锰砂滤料时，冲洗强度为18l/s/m2; 粒径为0.6～2.0mm 时为 22l/s/m2。其膨胀率分别为30％ 和22％。冲洗时间10～20min 。除铁除锰采用天然锰砂滤料时，冲洗强度为16～20l/sm2，期膨胀率为15％和2～25％。石英砂滤料时，冲洗强度为12～14l/s/m2，期膨胀率为27％ 和2～35％，冲洗时间为5～15min。
