热分散的作用主要是通过机体内的定子与转子间的相对运动实现的。浆料以大于28%的浓度进入热分散机，在受到蒸汽加热的同时，在定子与转子之间受到强烈的揉搓，使浆料中依附在纤维上的胶粘物、石蜡等热熔性杂质分散成微细颗粒，使混杂在废纸中的塑料、橡胶等浓缩成球状物，依附在纤维上的油墨与纤维分离，从而易于在后续工段中除去。本设备具有分散效果好、自动化程度高等优点，是目前废纸处理系统中的关键设备。
