水性涂料：凡是用水作溶剂或者作分散介质的涂料，都可称为水性涂料。依据涂料中粘合剂类别,水性涂料被分为两大类:天然物质或矿物质(如硅酸钾)的天然水性涂料和人工合成树脂(如丙.烯酸树脂)的石油化工水性涂料。此处仅对人工合成树脂类的水性涂料进行阐述。水性涂料包括水溶性涂料、水稀释性涂料、水分散性涂料(乳胶涂料)3种。水溶性涂料是以水溶性树脂为成膜物，以聚乙烯醇及其各种改性物为代表，除此之外还有水溶醇酸树脂、水溶环氧树脂及无机高分子水性树脂等
waterborne coatings: any paint that uses water as solvent or dispersing medium can be called waterborne coating. according to the categories of adhesives in the coatings, waterborne coatings are divided into two major categories: natural materials or minerals (such as potassium silicate), natural water-based coatings and synthetic resins (such as acrylic resins) for petrochemical water-based coatings. only the synthetic resin based waterborne coatings are described here. waterborne coatings include water-soluble coatings, water diluent coatings, water dispersive coatings (latex paint) 3 kinds. water soluble coatings are made of water-soluble resin as a film, and are represented by polyvinyl alcohol and its various modifier. in addition, water soluble alkyd resin, water-soluble epoxy resin and inorganic polymer water resin are also used.
