.jpgfounded by a.f. krueger in 1941, ki began askrueger metalproducts in aurora, illinois. one steel press andtwenty-fiveemployees created simple folding chairs from excessmetal thatkrueger obtained from the steel companies. the foldingchairs weresold for $2.00 each (dealer price). in 1945, kruegermoved itsheadquarters to green bay, wisconsin. through the nextthreedecades, krueger metal products continued to grow in size,both inemployee numbers and folding chairs. in 1964, thetupelo,mississippi plant was established. by 1967, krueger metalproductswas the world’s largest folding chair and tablemanufacturer. a newgreen bay plant and corporate headquarters werebuilt in 1972. bythe end of the 70’s, krueger metal had entered thecontractfurniture market. in 1983, the company became krueger, inc.and in1984 the manitowoc, wisconsin plant was established. in 1986,theinternational division was established. krueger, inc. becamethefirst and only 100 percent employee owned furniture manufacturerin1987. combining the commercial and contract furnituredivisions,krueger, inc. becoming krueger international andestablishingitself as ki, in 1988. in addition, pallas textiles wasestablishedas a wholly owned subsidiary. in 1992, the pembroke,ontario plantopened and in 1994, ki became the first 100 percentiso 9000certified furniture manufacturer. by 1998, ki-high pointandspacesaver were acquired and the bonduel, wisconsin andpontotoc,mississippi plants were established. currently, ki ranksas thesixth largest contract furniture manufacturer in theindustry.employing nearly 3000 and operating 10 manufacturingfacilities(green bay, manitowoc, bonduel and fort atkinson, wi;tupelo andpontotoc ms; high point, nc; and pembroke, ontario). ki,a trustedmarket resource, provides product solutions for a varietyofenvironments including education, healthcare, governmentandcorporate interiors.
